What We’re Building Today

Today we’re implementing a production-grade cluster membership system with automated health checking and failure recovery:

  • Heartbeat-based failure detection that identifies unhealthy nodes within seconds

  • Gossip protocol for membership propagation ensuring eventual consistency across the cluster

  • Automated node eviction and recovery with configurable grace periods and backoff strategies

  • Split-brain prevention using quorum-based decision making integrated with yesterday’s leader election

  • Health scoring system that tracks multiple dimensions (CPU, memory, disk, network latency) to make intelligent routing decisions
